Synopsis: An insight into the private life of this royal couple, as reflected in the family home they created together.
From Library Journal:
HRH the Duchess of York, known to most Americans as Fergie, has written an interesting book that looks at the home life of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Osborne House was very much the creation of Prince Albert, who keenly felt his position as a dependent on the queen. He oversaw every phase of the building of Osborne, from its design to the placement of furniture once the house was complete. He planted trees and worked in the gardens, and was quite proud of the prizes his livestock won. He saw to it that each of his children had their own gardens and sets of tools (including a painted wheelbarrow with the owner's initials in gold). The Duchess of York does a very good job of conveying in an informative and entertaining manner the largely idyllic life led by the young Royal Family at Osborne. There is nothing new here, but this is certainly enjoyable reading, and fans of the Royals will be sure to ask for it. The Prince Andrew Charitable Trust will receive all royalties from the book. Recommended for public libraries.
