About this Item

Title page dated 1922 but this book was copyright 1915 and first printed in the U.S. by Doubleday in 1915, so this is a later printing, even if none of the 19 Conrad titles opposite title page actually date from later than 1915. (None do.) No jacket. Two-color map to front endpapers. Gilt titles considerably faded to spine, and minor rub to corners, but still a solid "very good." Polish-born Jozef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, 1857-1924, an early modernist and developer of the anti-hero, is considered one of the greatest novelists to write in the English language. He joined the British merchant marine in 1878, and was granted British nationality in 1886. 462 pp. Reduced from $67. Bookseller Inventory # 003816
