Pemberton, a physician studied medicine under Boerhaave. He was a member of the Royal Society to which he contributed many papers: one of which came to the attention of Newton, and thus, a long friendship ensued. Newton employed him to superintend the third edition of the "Principia." Pemberton saw much of Darwin in his old age.
