Book Description Laughing Oak, United States, 2013. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.In a simple style that gives a dog s perspective of the world from a foot off the ground, Foxy shares his life story and his views on topics that a dog knows best. Lost, mistreated and abandoned, he is fearful of people, noises, and sudden movements. Rescued by Jay and Ellie, over time he grows to trust and love his humans and his dog pals. Along with feisty observations about the behavior of humans, cats, deer, and sheep, he shares the inside scoop on sniffing and barking, his instinctual needs for hiding in a cave, wandering off to explore new territory, or scavenging for food. We experience his delight in all of his senses throughout the seasons--fragrant flowers and leaves, crinkly leaves underfoot, the crunch of snow, and the fresh scent from a just-cut Christmas tree. Foxy takes us with him to dog parks, frolics at the beach, and an assortment of kennels, hotels, and coffee shops. He deals with his own injuries and Jay s illness with a dog s understanding of the world. Foxy s unique voice can be compared to the dogs of Peter Mayle in A Dog s Life or Garth Stein in Racing in the Rain. He artfully brings the reader s attention to his level, where smell is everything and he is always on the lookout for a morsel of food. His humorous riffs on food and his frequent confusion about what the humans are saying and why things happen give a poignancy to the pain and loss he experiences. The leash that he is so eager to be released from so he can explore his environment also provides a feeling of connection to his humans. In the end, despite his lifelong fear of those who might hurt him, he is tenacious in surviving the challenges of life and it is his bond with humans that matters the most. Book Description Gale Ecco, Print Editions, United States, 2010. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****.The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. This collection reveals the history of English common law and Empire law in a vastly changing world of British expansion. Dominating the legal field is the Commentaries of the Law of England by Sir William Blackstone, which first appeared in 1765. Reference works such as almanacs and catalogues continue to educate us by revealing the day-to-day workings of society.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Book Description Createspace Independent Publishing Platform, 2016. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. Poker sure has blown up, hasn t it? It s not just an American game any longer.it has gone global. People everywhere have become fascinated by the unique mix of problem-solving, math, psychology, and self-discipline involved in this multifaceted game. The money involved doesn t seem to hurt either. Many people have played poker in some form, and many more have seen it in the movies. Of course, everyone knows that going all-in with four queens or a royal flush makes sense, right? Sure they do! (And don t forget that poker face, pardner.) Ahh, if only it were that simple. For any number of reasons, moving from traditional kitchen table games to modern casino (or online) no-limit Texas Hold em (NLHE) is no cakewalk. It can be a costly and humbling experience. Let s face facts here: dime limit 5-card draw or stud games are, alas, hard to find in Vegas. The ante has been raised, and aspiring players need to get with the times. While still poker in name, NLHE is a vastly different and more complex game than the poker that many people have played in the past. Naturally, some reading on the subject is a good idea, and there are many books, websites, and videos out there, some of them quite good. Yup, good, sure. but often long, full of math, convoluted explanations, advanced lingo, and overly focussed on details. It is all too easy to get lost amongst the trees and miss the forest. We believe that you can handle the big picture, and that a high-level, holistic perspective is key for you to become a solid player faster. Armed with an overview - a map - you will have context for other media you come across, and, more importantly, for situations at the table. There are a lot of lost, bewildered players out there trying to make sense of it all. And guess what? They are bleeding money to players who know what is going on. Thinkin About No-Limit presents a 10,000-foot-view of NLHE cash games. In a relatively few pages, the principle concepts are covered. The reader is gently led into thinking about the game by way of clear, simple, conversational language and examples. While some math, specific hands, and other details are discussed, the book is an easy read and mostly keeps to the high-level view. Despite the fairly complex topic, the fresh and sometimes humorous style is never dry or boring. The book s basic premise is that it is nearly impossible to discuss absolutes in NLHE, therefore it is better to look at the big picture and learn to evaluate each situation based on the application of general concepts. No-limit is simply not a mechanical game, and rote play based on memorization will not take you far. Thinkin is required. Thinkin About No-Limit presents a framework to think about any game situation that may arise on the felt. Here are a few testimonials from Amazon: This is an enjoyable, readable, intermediate level book on no limit hold-em.a valuable addition for a novice- intermediate like myself. Generally better than a lot of poker books I ve read. (4 stars) - Paul Laprade Very good info for a beginner / recreational player looking to further [their] skill level ! (5 stars) - Amazon Customer Good insight.Well written and very informative. (4 stars) - Nicole M Five stars. Good content.
