Inscribed and signed by Ruth Norcross Hoxie on front free endpaper. (2) 64pp., 28 plates. Original red cloth with gilt-stamped facsimile signature on cover. Facsimile signature of Vinnie Ream on title page. Printed for private distribution only. Catalog of sculptures by Vinnie Ream including her most famous work, a statue of Abraham Lincoln which stands in the U.S. Capitol rotunda. Ream was the first woman to receive a commission for a sculpture from the U.S. Government. Ream was the wife of Brigadier General Richard L. Hoxie. The book contains various b/w reproduction of statues and busts, e.g. The West, The Spirit of the Carnival, Miriam, Admiral Farragut, Albert Pike, Franz Liszt, and others as well as b/w photographs of Vinnie Ream and various documents pertaining to her illustrious career. Also includes an eight page address given by Ream at the International Council of Women in 1909. Much of Ream's work is placed at the U.S. Capitol and the Smithsonian. Some wear along edges of binding, light scuffing and bumps. Small library plate in upper right corner of inside front cover. Some yellowing along edges of some plates at rear not affecting images.
