Title: Vintage Tin of Recoton Melograph Needles
Publisher: early-to-mid 1900s
Publication Date: 1900
Book Condition: Near Fine
Small green tin with flip-top lid, lettering ("Melograph, Recoton, Laubschik") and musical notes printed in gold on the top. Gold paper seal, printed in red, is open, but the box is nearly full. A few tiny scratches, otherwise in excellent condition -- and quite uncommon. The Melograph, similar to the Melodiograph, is a mechanical apparatus for ethnomusicological transcription, usually producing some sort of graph that can be preserved and filed, similar to a recording of music.
