A printed slip from the publisher is tipped in at the front reminding booksellers that it has been supplied 'on terms which will not admit of their allowing a discount from the advertised price.' Good. Illustrated by photgraphs by the author and others. Second edition. The author was Special Correspondent of the Standard accompanying the Prince and Princess of Wales during their visit to the Empire of India in 1905-1906. The material for this book is concerned mainly with the author's account of the 'conditions of life and society prevailing in India, rather than to furnish a circumstantial record of the tour, or to describe in detail those places of historical, antiquarian, and aesthetic interest which were included in the official itinerary.' - Preface.
