About this title

"Heartwarming and humorous book." - BOOKLIST It's 1973 and the three-day week turns life at the RSPCA Animal Hospital at Harmsworth upside down. When a Colombian friend suggests a spell as a vet in South America, David Grant jumps at the chance. However, the lessons he learns in Colombia are not those he expects: how to deal with the mafia, how to avoid being mugged, how to avoid guerrilla raids. When David saves the life of the local drug baron's dog, his future seems secure, but his refusal to carry out unnecessary treatment leads to a cash crisis. He solves it by becoming a part-time English teacher, which in turn leads to romance. Here is his heart-warming and humorous tale of his adventures.

About the Author:

David Grant is the author of four bestselling books on his life as a vet. He studied at the Royal Veterinary College, London University, and Edinburgh University before working on a farm practice when he first qualified, and then at the RSPCA Harmsworth hospital as a junior vet. After a year in Colombia he only just survived the culture shock of working as a vet in Chelsea. He has been director of the RSPCA Harmsworth hospital since 1987, now a venue for the hugely popular Animal Hospital series. He is married with two children and lives in London.
