"This uncommon view of the Turkish coast in Asia shows a portion of a heavily trafficked waterway that divided the European and Asian sections of the Ottoman Empire. Geographic features formerly known as Cape Tchiboucli and Giant's Mountain are located on the Bosporus, near the entrance to the Black Sea. Waterfront settlements and a variety of sailing ships are also presented within the idyllic scene. The image was based on artwork created by the French artist Michael-Francois Preault. Engraved by Benedict Piringer and likely issued in a mid-19th century folio of earlier works. Source."
