Original embossed brown covers, with a frontal view of a steam locomotive in silver on front cover, index, 144 pp, glossy, heavy paper, profusely illustrated with black and white photographs. Very good. 1/4 inch chip off head of spine, two approximately 1 inch tears at foot. Internally, bit of foxing on first few leaves, and an inverted T-shaped light tan stain on lower edge of entire text, approximately 1/2 inch deep by 3 inches long on each side and in gutters, which has casued some of the adjoining leaves to be partially stuck together there, with a bit of abrasion where some of the pages have been separated (text unaffected) , otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked. Consists of various tables of specifications, the main section, which has a photo of each locomotive on one page and the specifications on the other, another section of miscellaneous locomotives, with 2 photos per page and the name of the buyer, followed by an interesting section of photos of them in action in coal mining, logging, etc. Trains; railroad; railway; steam locomotives; compressed air locomotives; antiques; steam engines; reference; history; trade catalogue (catalog) ; ephemera. A native of NYC, who dissipated his youth and more mature years in used bookstores and reading, as well as earning degrees in history, biology, banking and counseling plus studying 2 years at the University of Paris, he is constantly acquiring quaint and curious volumes, as well as the more mundane, on every imaginable subject. Low overhead means low prices geared towards the trade and the savvy retail client. To the extent possible, we use recycled packaging material (economy and ecology are both dervied from the same Greek root), and all books are shipped in corrugated cardboard. Every attempt is made to accurately describe the books, including their faults, and everything is completely guaranteed! (Sorry, we are strictly mail order, and due to insurance and other concerns cannot accomodate visitors.) On-line booksellers since 1996; ancient for this business!
