Preface by Bertha Mahony. Patterned red/white endpapers. Unpaginated (23 pp of text). tipped in photo of Potter on frontispiece above a facsimile signature. (Note: claims that Potter signed the book are wrong, she died the year before and no one yet has signed from the grave). Chapter headings are woodcuts by J.J. Lankes. A very good copy. The jacket has torn along the inner folds, but the remains are laid in, with all information. This is the first American edition, the rights to which were given to the publisher by Potter's husband. Beatrix had done no iluustrations for the book, so the Lankes Woodcuts were added; quite charming. 12mo, 4 3/4 X 6 1/2 inches. A very nice copy, quite collectible.; Seller Inventory # 0820134
