About the Book

Description:

The complete dramatic story of wartime civilian censorship by the assistant director of the Office of Censorship during WWII that had the responsibility to keep military information out of circulation. Censoring international mails and cables, wireless and radiotelephone circuits, documents carried in and out of the country, and supervising American press and radio systems was also a job that threatened encroachment on civil liberties but was a temporary expedient. Nice copy, the book is tightly bound with no names, markings, etc. The DJ shows some edgewear, esp. the area around the head of the spine which has a closed tear and some chipping. Still bright and clean in a mylar cover. Bookseller Inventory #
