Edges toned; binding shaken between front flyleaf and frontispiece recto; binding stressed at several points including at pages 96-97, 265-265, and 288-289; a few page corners creased; mostly scattered light foxing and soiling but with strong soiling to pages 72-73. A fair copy reflecting fairly typical condition for books published by Dick & Fitzgerald. With b/w frontispiece and b/w illustrations inset amongst text, Preface, a few musical scores with lyrics, and six page publisher's catalog at rear. Title page specifies book's author as Leger D. Mayne which is an obvious word play on "legerdemain" or sleight of hand; OCLC attributes authorship to William B. Dick.
