12mo. (20 cm)[6]7-207p. Index. Endpapers are maps of the Far East. Black and white photo of Arva C. Floyd on rear turn-in of dust jacket. Brown cloth with black letters on the spine. Previous owner's neat bookplate (Dick Eckert) on half title page, else near fine with no internal markings. Dust Jacket tattered, but mostly there. A native Georgian, who grew up in Atlanta, Floyd was educated at Emory University and Yale (Ph.D.). Floyd was an avid student of the history and culture of the Far East. He spent four years as a missionary to Japan and taught in mission and government schools in Kobe and Oita. He went on to be Professor of Missions and Oriental History in Emory University. This book is a survey of relations between eastern and western peoples and cultures and is an attempt to engage Westerners in a discussion of the issues in the aftermath of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
