About the Author:

ABOUT THE AUTHOR A veteran firefighter, author Don Estes is a lifelong resident of Clinton Corners, NY, where he has served in his local fire department for 30 years. His celebrated talent for storytelling and his love of children eventually led to writing his first children's book, "Willy: The Little Jeep Who Wanted to be a Fire Truck." Published in 2003 and illustrated by Sue Garrison, the book is based on a true story. To the delight of many audiences, Don has shared the Willy story extensively at schools, libraries, bookstores, firehouses, and on radio and television. He and his wife Lynn have two grown children, Matt and Amy. The entire Estes family has served as volunteer members of their hometown fire company. ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR A lifelong resident of Maine, artist Eric Glass is a 1980 BFA graduate of the Maine College of Art, where he majored in painting. "When I was young, my parents encouraged me to pursue art," recalls the 49-year-old artist, "after they noticed my early knack for drawing." For the last two decades, Eric has been a freelance artist. "Given the need for an artist to be diversified," he notes, "I've also worked as a sign painter, art instructor, screen printer, and toymaker." Eric Glass currently lives in Brunswick, Maine with his wife Theresa and their four sons, Brendan, Kevin, Ethan, and David.
