Maroon leather over marbled boards. Only lightest surface rubbing to some boards, others perfect. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Prior owner's name on endpaper in each volume. Otherwise contents clean and bright. Moderate edgewear. All backstrips are damaged. Set includes: 1. Essays Aesthetical and Philosophical, including the Disseration on the 'Connexion Between The Animal and Spiritual in Man.' 435 pp. Front board detached.; 2. The Works of Friedrich Schiller, Early Dramas and Romances: The Robbers, Fiesco, Love and Intrigue, Demetrius, The Ghost-seer, and The Sport of Destiny. (1881), 493 pp. Crack in leather along front joint. Panels on spine with title and series are missing.; 3. The Works of Friedrich Schiller, Historical and Dramatic: History of the Revolt of the Netherlands, Continued Trials of Counts Egmont and Horn; Wallenstein and Wilhelm Tell, Historical Dramas (1881), 553.; 4. The Works of Friedrich Schiller: Historical Dramas, Etc., Don Carlos - Mary Stuart; The Maid of Orleans - The Bride of Messina. (1883), 516 pp. Top 2 sections of backstrip missing, series panel on spine is also missing. 5. The Poems of Schiller. Translated by Edgar A. Bowring, C.B., M.P. Second Edition, Revised, (1882), 377 pp. Two panels on spine imprinted with title and series name are missing. Top two sections of backstrip are separated from front board and peeling away.
