Original uniform full calf leather bindings, all H 22cm x L 13.5cm. Spines decorated with black title compartments with some rubbing to gilt lettering which is still bright but not vibrant. Mostly moderate scuffing to boards with several patches of surface abrasion and peeling to leather - strongest scuffing and peeling occurs to rear boards of Vols 4, 5, and 6; varying wear to corners and edges. 3cm chip at spine head of Vol 4 with quires exposed; approx. 2cm tears at spine heads of Vols 3 and 6 with much shorter tears to Vols 1 and 2. VOLUME I: i-viii, 1-547 pages; antiquarian ownership inscription in pencil on front flyleaf with some pencil writing on rear fly. VOLUME II: i-vi, 1-532 pages; antiquarian ownership inscription in pencil on front flyleaf with some pencil writing on rear free endpaper. VOLUME III: i-vi, 1-520 pages; antiquarian ink signature and pencil initials on front free endpaper with matching pencil inscription on rear free endpaper. VOLUME IV: i-vi, 1-490 pages; pencil marks on Contents pages; tear with loss of text on both pages 1/2 and 3/4 affecting "The Idler." VOLUME V: i-iv, 1-520 pages. VOLUME VI: i-iv, 1-497 pages; section of creased page corners for pgs 361-396. Bindings are all firm with mostly moderate but occasionally strong browning to interior leaves of all volumes.
