COMPLETE TEN VOLUME SET - "Edition De Luxe" (as stamped at spine heels). All hard covers in uniform aquamarine cloth bindings with bright gilt stamped lettering and decoration upon spines. Each H 21.75cm x L 14cm. No dust jackets. Gilt top edges with a few having some minor to mild flaking; deckle fore-edges and bottom edges; b/w or color frontispieces with tissue guards; b/w plate illustrations amongst texts. All ten volumes share spine cloth slightly faded in comparison to boards, mild bumping to spine ends with minor scuffing at tips of joints, most boards have a few spots of mottling and some light soiling. Bindings remain fairly crisp. Mild toning and soiling to endpapers with some moderate toning to frontispieces but otherwise interior leaves are bright and clean. Each Thackeray novel is separately paginated within each of the ten volumes. VOLUME I - THE PARIS SKETCH-BOOK; EASTERN SKETCHES; THE IRISH SKETCH BOOK. VOLUME II - VANITY FAIR; LOVEL THE WIDOWER: narrow line of felt tip red ink on bottom edge, binding split evident between front free endpaper and front flyleaf. VOLUME III - THE CHRISTMAS BOOKS OF MR. M.A. TITMARSH: small slender dark stain near spine head, binding split evident between frontispiece and title page. VOLUME IV - THE HISTORY OF PENDENNIS. VOLUME V - THE HISTORY OF HENRY ESMOND, ESQ.; THE MEMOIRS OF BARRY LYNDON, ESQ.; DENIS DUVAL. VOLUME VI - THE NEWCOMES: slender abraded stain at top edge of rear board, several small scuffed patches to cloth on rear board, strong flaking to gilt top edge particularly near fore-edge corner. VOLUME VII - THE VIRGINIANS: strong mottling to front board. VOLUME VIII - THE ADVENTURES OF PHILIP; CATHERINE, A STORY. VOLUME IX - BURLESQUES; YELLOWPLUSH PAPERS, ETC. VOLUME X - ROUNDABOUT PAPERS; CRITICAL REVIEWS; ENGLISH HUMORISTS; SKETCHES AND TRAVELS: three small dark stains at spine center. A few faults but still an attractive decorative clothbound set and overall very good. Please note that this is a heavy set of books and will require additional postage and insurance.
