Full calf leather. 5 ½ by 3 ¾ inches. 179 pp. includes a list of 'sufferers and survivors' of the 1835 Wall's End catastrophe, giving names and occupations. A biography of William Crister, focusing on his religious efforts and theology as relating to others employed in the mine as he was, with some account (interspersed and brief) of mining life. Also present is an account of the 1835 gas explosion in the Wallsend Colliery (mining for coal) in which 209 people died. FAIR condition. Front cover hanging on by threads and effectively detached (or will be). Rear hinge cracked but intact. Moderate scuffing, bumping and chipping along the extremities, with some loss of leather at the lower corners and edges. Uneven darkening, minor soiling and scuffing. Leather worn along the spine and hinges. Faint ownership notations and signatures on the endpapers. Text block solid, with scattered foxing throughout. Bookseller Inventory # 007829
