A Lakeside Classic reprint, presenting the account by John F. Finerty of the expedition along the Yellowstone River and south into present-day northeast Wyoming. The purpose of the expedition, led by General George Crook, was to put to an end the Indian raids, and included the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Edited by Milo Milton Quaife. --- Includes a couple of maps of the area, a frontis photo of General Crook, 8 additional photos and a facsimile of the original title page from the first appearance of this work, published in 1890 (per Howes F-136). --- One in a series of annually published works continuously produced since 1903 by R. R. Donnelley & Sons, owners of the Lakeside Press. The books were not made available for sale by the publisher; rather, they were given as gifts to employees, vendors and customers at Christmastime. --- In full navy blue cloth-covered boards w/ publisher's device on cover and titling on spine; all in gilt; top edge gilt. Lacks the glassine wrapper. --- A clean, firm copy but with a few light colored specks to covers, reddish marks at rear endpapers and a dark mark on textblock fore-edge.; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; lvi, 379 pages.
