First Edition. Octavo; [6],(vi), 95, [4]pp.Tissue-protected frontis portrait of Harding and image of bugler playing 'Taps' at rear. Near Fine copy. INSCRIBED 'Presented to Dr. & Mrs. C.W. Richardson/in loving memory of my disting-/uished brother -/Carolyn Harding Votaw.' Copy of notice of August 1, 1923 Commonwealth Club luncheon for President Harding and subsequent cancellation stapled to ffep; C.W. Richardson label to front pastedown. Carolyn Harding Votaw, President Harding's youngest sister, and her husband moved to Washingto when he was Senator, he as Harding's clerk and she as an early member of the Women's Bureau of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and running a program for unwed mothers. The irony was that later she arranged a White House tour for Nan Britton, Harding's mistress and later was active in refuting Britton's efforts to establish her daughter Elizabeth Ann as Harding's.
