Hardcover in green cloth, with black & gilt titles and black pictorials on front cover & backstrip; quatrefoil blind-stamped on back cover; no dust jacket; church library label on front pastedown endpaper, partially obscured by fragments of another label, but no other library markings; pages unmarked & tight with the following exception: the folded sheet (i.e., 4 pages) that includes the frontispiece & the illustrated half-title page has broken loose from the binding at the bottom but is still attached at the top; pages faintly darkened, with scattered spots of very minor soil in the fore-edge margins; rubbing at the extremities, with minor fraying at top and bottom of backstrip; small, irregular hole near bottom of backstrip; covers soiled; front cover has grape-sized black smudge & 3 smaller whited-out areas; book advertisements glued to flyleaf; presentation inscription on blank verso of frontispiece; foxing on first 10 pages; ship next day in bubblewrap.
