Pink- and gray-weave cloth hardcover with gilt title, etc., on spine and gilt illustration of a man on a mule(?) on front board; map endpapers; 169 pages; occasional b&w illustrations; no jacket. Very good plus condition : light foxing on outer edge of text block; binding is fine condition; small red mark on front free endpaper, otherwise interior is fine. The tale of a prospecting trip by the author across the sagebrush deserts of western Nevada in the summer of 1861.
