About this Item

Mottled cloth, lettering and crest stamped in gilt on upper board. Spine tips and corners a little torn and frayed. From the library of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., with his bookplate, and inscribed to him on the half-title page by "The Mayor and Mayoress of Watford, England and The Watford Industrial Exhibition Committee, June 1957." With 18 additional signatures on the facing page (chairmen, committee members, it seems). Fairbanks (1909-2000) was an iconic American actor from Hollywood’s Golden Era (his credits include "Gunga Din"), and a highly decorated naval officer of World War II. This copy includes a laid-in, signed photograph of Fairbanks, in uniform. Bookseller Inventory # JC3006
