Original black cloth with white lettering on the upper front cover and on the spine. No chipping to the lettering. Very good condition, owners hand stamp on second to last page of book. Light spotting to end pages. "Helen levitt took most of the photographs in this book in the 1940's, in thte streets of what is now Spanish Harlem; James Agee's essay was written in the late 1940's, when he and Helen Levitt planned this book, and remained unpublished at his death in 1955. 51 black & white photos by Levitt. 12 page essay by Agee. 787 pages.
