540 g.; VIII, 182pp., last blank, publisher's note, list of illustrations. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece of author. The text is illustrated with 15 pages of black-and-white photographs. Maroon coloured boards with gilt titles on the spine. Red coloured tint to top paper edge. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and is slight rubbing to the book corners. Some marking to the top of the boards. Very faint foxing to the rear pages of the book. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing various ports of call of author, with blue background and green and white writing on the front panel and white, green and black on the spine. Very faint rubbing to the dustwrapper corners and there is occasional chip to the bottom spine edge. Some foxing noted to the top edges of the dustwrapper. The author, a young German wool clerk, set out in 1955 to achieve two objectives; one: to see the world, two: to see the Olympic Games in Melbourne. He did this by walking over 10,000 miles of his journey, and other various forms of transport. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
