About this Item

Incredible cover is bright as the day it was printed, with no bumps or chips; there are minor creases and tears around the outer edges, but everything more than a centimeter in is clean, smooth and fresh. Illustration features a girl chained to a wall next to a hooded executioner, and was once quite shocking. Text bloc is really nice; blue pen on the table of contents notes that the Ernst story was later reprinted, but the pages themselves, though of course browned, are clean-edged and pristine. Also contains work by Joseph Upper and a reprint of Richard Harris Barham. This same blue pen was used to inscribe a tiny note in the upper left hand corner of the back wrap giving the previous owner's purchase price. Bookseller Inventory # 006429
