With slip stating: "With the Compliments of Professor W. Macneile Dixon (University of Glasgow)." The author, archaeologist Sir Charles Waldstein, was born an American but, after leading the American School of Classical Studies in Athens and joining the faculty at Cambridge University, he became a British citizen in 1899 and was knighted in 1912. In Very Good Condition: slight discoloration of spine; covers slightly soiled; indentation along lower edge of front cover affecting first few pages; lower corner creased throughout; pages are clean and tight.
