About this title:
About the Author: After photographing the construction of Beardsley Dam in 1955, French returned to shoot the finished project in 1958. Behold, there was a steam engine pulling a load of logs across the dam. French was hooked and got a job as a bridge carpenter for Pickering so he could take pictures. He waited 40 years to do the book and included Sierra Railroad and West Side Lumber Co. He has done two books, San Francisco ; and another on Sonoma. He has been published in Time, Newsweek, Nat'l Geographic guidebooks, and numerous other international publications.
