Translated from the German by Hugh Merrick. Harrer (1912-2006) chronicles two decades of "Mordwand"--the 13,000-foot Swiss death wall that was first climbed by a party that included Harrer (author of "Seven Years in Tibet") in 1938 and has since claimed the lives of more than sixty climbers. Bound in blue cloth-covered boards with silver lettering on the spine; top page edges tinted gray. Laid in is a newspaper clipping of a contemporary review, from an unknown British newspaper. Former owner name and "1960" in ink on front endpaper, else unmarked. Book is tight and square; one corner, tail of spine bumped. The dust jacket is not price-clipped (original price 30s net, at bottom of front flap); chipped at spine ends and corners; edgewear. Brodart protected. Bookseller Inventory #
