Synopsis: Do you sometimes question Christianity, but remain attracted to the comforting message of Jesus? Do you react against the subordinate position that the Roman Catholic Church and the Protestant Churches have enforced for women, but feel embraced by the loving arms of Mary? Do you feel that the Christian Churches consider you, or one of your relatives or friends, as an outcast? In sharp contrast, Jesus respected the most despised outcasts of his time. Do you ask yourself why so many Christian preachers frequently quote Paul’s words, but seldom quote the words of Jesus? They talk endlessly about Jesus suffering on the cross, but seldom speak of Jesus' actual teachings. Do you wonder why the Christian Churches condemn loving relationships as sinful, when Jesus said love is the most important thing? If these and other questions have led you to feel alienated, then focus on solely upon the words that Jesus spoke. Seek and you shall find—for the first time, or once again—the love, solace, happiness, comfort, renewal of the spirit, and total ecstasy, that Jesus provides. This book, although it will be dismissed as fiction by some, is based on the words of Jesus in the Gospels. But there are many years of Jesus’ life that are not covered in the Bible. What happened to Jesus during those years? The Bible says nothing about nearly two decades of Jesus’ adolescence and young adulthood. Various Biblical scholars have suggested that Jesus was heavily influenced by Buddhist ideas during these “missing years.” After all, historians know that Buddhist missionaries were at the time spreading the dharma message widely, along the Silk Road from China to Egypt. If the reader will keep an open mind about this period of Jesus' life, the presentation in this book might be the most logical explanation for those years of Jesus’ disappearance from the Bible. What happened in the founding and development of the Christian Church after the death of Jesus? This book combines historical research and prayerful insight, to free Jesus from the limitations of Christian leaders who act more like Pharisees, the priestly class whom Jesus despised, than like true followers of Jesus. The problem is that many of the values of those who call themselves Christians are shaped not by the ideas of Jesus, but by the ideas of Paul, who was a vengeful narrow-minded person with many insecurities. By combining the writings of Paul with the vengeful texts of the Old Testament, Christians have emphasized a wrathful God rather than a loving Heavenly Father that Jesus taught. Jesus’ message of love, peace and happiness has been ignored, in favor of a guilt-inducing conformist religion that remained mired in values more typical of the Roman Empire than to people today. Christianity became corrupted when it became the state religion of the Roman Empire, and was used as a justification for torture of those who disagreed with the patriarchs of the church. Though the Pharisees of our time will no doubt condemn this book as blasphemy, I am comforted by knowledge that the Pharisees condemned Jesus as a blasphemer as well. I call on other thinking spiritual people to declare their independence from the Christian Churches, as hopeless relics that are chained to the past. It is time to build a new spirituality for a new millennium, addressing current world problems while drawing on Jesus’ two thousand year old gospel of love and peace. May this loving message of Jesus bring you personal fulfillment and great happiness. Peace be with you always.
