About this title:

Synopsis:

LS Chang was enlisted by President Chiang Kai-shek to play key roles in his administration and help stem communist advances. Events from 1920 to 1971 cover warlordism, slaughter by Japanese invaders and corruption which finally opened the way to communism. LS Chang stands out from his contemporaries because of his Confucian upbringing, the Christianity he adopted, and the devotion to his family and to China.

About the Author: Hsiao-yuen de Groot was born in Chungking, China and came to the United States in 1965. She studied fashion design at the Traphagen Institute in Manhattan and worked in the fashion industry in New York until she married international investment banker Niels de Groot. She has traveled widely in Asia, the United States and Europe.

The Hoover Institution at Stanford University has established a permanent collection for materials relating to LS Chang in their "Modern China Archives and Collections".
