With 24 black and white plates depicting anatomical illustrations, human posture (standing and sitting), various bench exercises, an "electric light bath", etc. Bound in maroon publisher’s cloth. No dust jacket. Minor rubbing to the extremities. Text block is somewhat leaning. Occasional light marginal spotting is present. A faint crease is visible on one plate and on pp. 83-90; the upper corner tips of pp. 111-113 are chipped; the upper margin of p. 95 contains a small tear (neatly sealed). John Harvey Kellogg (1852-1943) was an American medical doctor, Seventh Day Adventist and the inventor of Corn Flakes cereal. He advocated a vegetarian and high fiber diet, yogurt enemas, exercise, artificial sunbaths and sexual abstinence. His book "Why the ‘blues’" was first published in 1914 und the title "Neurasthenia or nervous exhaustion." The author discusses neurasthenia and various treatments with diet, exercise, cold baths, correct posture etc. Bookseller Inventory # 000797
