About this title

Katy is not looking forward to the changes that her mother's marriage will bring

From School Library Journal:

Kindergarten-Grade 3 Katy, a disgruntled six or seven year old who is seldom out of jeans and untied tennis shoes, contrasts life with her single-parent mom with what it will be like when her mother gets married in two weeksno more picnics on the beach; no popcorn and old movies on Saturday night. But it is obvious to readers, if not to Katy, that both adults are trying to please and accomodate her, too. While Katy feels "sad and angry" that she can't go on the honeymoon, her mother assures her that she loves Katy "more than ever" and that they will still find time to be alone together. Drescher's ink-over-watercolor illustrations create a friendly and gently humorous milieu in which Katy tells her story. There a few books at this level which deal with acceptance of remarriage and a new parent; Drescher's contribution is a welcome one. Susan Hepler, Windsor Public Library, Conn.
