"Most of the photographs in this book were taken while I was serving in the four-masted Finnish barque MOSHULU of Mariehammn in 1938 and 1939 when she was engaged in the Grain Trade. Being an apprentice, I took nearly all these photographs during my free watch, many of them when I was done-in after long hours on deck, at the wheel or up in the rigging. " The book consists of an 18-page Introduction by the author/photographer wherein he relates a brief history of the grain trade and clippers in general, with the rest of the book devoted to b/w photos, many of them full-page, with brief captions.
