About this Item

"There was never a problem in knowing where and how to start the story about Cal Marvin and the Warroad Lakes. The problem was in knowing where and how to end it. The stories about Laker hockey and about Cal, who built and nutured the organization for a full fifty years, are endless. Most of the great stories are here, I'm sure, but certainly not all of them. That would be an impossibility. It is inevitable, too, that there are a few factual errors in this account.that the year of a happening, the score of a particular game, or some other statement of fact is off the mark. Complete accuracy became impossible because information gleaned from newspaper clippings, records and other documents was, at times, found to be contradictory." This book has 179 pages and is illustrated throughout. Bookseller Inventory # 042431

About this title

Synopsis:

Warroad Lakers 1946-47 to 1996-1997 There is a bit of hockey history not much known outside of Northern Minnesota and Western Canada, but one which needs to be told. It is the story of the most successful senior hockey team in the United States. It is also the story of one man's dedication to Canada's national game in small-town America and how that dedication could turn this same small town into a producer of top hockey talent for half a century.
