Das Gut und das Schloss Gusow waren seit 1744 im Besitz des Adelsgeschlechts von Posewils. Friedrich Heinrich ließ einen englischen Landschaftspark anlegen und betrieb eine anerkannte Musterwirtschaft auf seinen Besitzungen, er war u.a. Mitglied der Naturforschenden Gesellschaft in Berlin.
