First US edition, first printing of the story of the story of the young woman who was to have been the first woman into space (she passed all the rigorous tests given to astronauts), but for a twist of fate. A near fine book (some wrinkling to the upper spine tip, one corner tapped, but still sharp, and faint offsetting on the front end page, else fine) in a very good plus dustjacket, lightly worn at the extremities (the upper spine tip has a thin area, less than 1/2 cm. deep, which is heavily rubbed). The jacket is still bright and unfaded and is not creased or clipped. Signed and generically inscribed (not to any particular person) on the front end page: "with every / good wish - / God bless you. / Jerrie Cobb". Bookseller Inventory #
