When she and her husband Bill, were driving home from what turned out to be her last appointment with her oncologist, Marie wrote on a yellow pad which Bill later found on the floor of the car. About the Author: Marie Fenton Griffing's memoir, a coming of age story of a woman born in 1925, reveals aspects of her exciting life including two tragic events. Upon graduating from college she took a position with Cosmopolitan Magazine and was fortunate to spend an exciting time in Paris where she became a European editor for that magazine. She was a writer for Hearst publications and the editor of "Teen" Magazine. As a freelance beauty/health/fitness editor her articles were published in Good Housekeeping and other magazines. Marie spent her entire career in the literary field as a journalist. She loved the printed word and could not go to sleep without a book by her side and a pen and paper nearby. Marie wrote about the death of her young husband, father of her three children in her book "Sunflowers Do Die" He was the author of "The Big Swingers: a biography of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Tarzan" The next tragic event could have completely ruined her life if not for her courageous spirit.
