pages. An early prospectus for potential new members of the newly built Women's Athletic Club. The club had just been completed, at a cost of more than $1 million (raised from members and a loan from the Bank of Italy (later Bank of America). The club, a female response to Los Angeles's oldest private club, the all-male Los Angeles Athletic Club, offered upper middle class women and a growning female professional class opportunities for recreation and socializing. The building, thoroughly illustrated in this pamphlet, provided sports facilities and hotel rooms. Not in OCLC. See Rocq, California Local History, 4530 for later items. Near fine.
