A charming provincial chapbook from local Stirling chapbook printer William Macnie. A short collection of ballads. With a vignette on the title page of a gentleman cutting down a tree with a very large axe. Macnie apparently produced around 110 chapbooks under his own imprint during his ownership of the firm previously owned by the Randalls. 12mo. 8pp. Atkinson, Street Literature of the Long Nineteenth Century: Producers, Sellers, Consumers, pg. 170; SBTI. Original self wrappers but with leaves separated. Good.
