About this Item

"A book made 'after the fact' from the greatly popular musical of the same name, which weaves characters from several classic fairy tales into a parable about the joys and sorrows of adulthood." -- From the copyright page. First edition stated, first printing with number line starting with "1." The book is copy richly illustrated with many full color drawings throughout by Hudson Talbott, and printed on high quality glossy paper. Fine/Fine condition. Dark blue cloth boards, binding clean and tight. DJ has price on front flyleaf neatly snipped, barely noticeable. Very slight signs of wear along the spine. This is an imaginative account of what happens when the lives of new and old fairy tale characters dramatically and humorously come together. The volume came into being after Sondheim and Lapine won three Tony awards, five Drama Desk awards and the New York Drama Critics Circle award for Best Musical of 1988. Now very scarce. "Into the Woods" was also made into a film in 2014 starring Meryl Streep and a multi-talented cast. Bookseller Inventory # 150203
