FIRST EDITION, title-page vignette, double-page map printed in black on green paper, pp. 250, crown 8vo, original blue boards, vignettes to upper board and backstrip lettering stamped in gilt, slight lean to spine, dustjacket by John Craxton, a hint of rubbing at extremities, near fine. Signed by the author on the title-page, his printed name crossed through. This work picks up from the author's first journey undertaken in the 1930s, and recounted in 'A Time of Gifts', which took him from Rotterdam as far as Hungary. A horseback trip across the Hungarian Plain, beyond the Romanian border and into Transylvania now follows in this second instalment of the trilogy. Seller Inventory # 77320
