These Book are Pocket size Volumes. Each book has its own Title only, e.g. "Dombey & Son". "Works of Charles Dickens" is not stated on any of them, that is only in the title of this book listing because there are 25 Titles in this part set. Each Volume has a Blue/Grey Quarter cloth spine with Gilt Title on Maroon ground and gilt Vol No: as most titles require 2 volumes. They are not numbered as part of a set (e.g. 1 - 25). Brown Paper covered boards with Marbled effect. Fore and bottom page edges untrimmed. 6 1/4" Tall. Undated Edition, an old gift inscription on one volume is dated 1886.The Titles are: Our Mutual Friend, 2 Volums; Barnaby Rudge, 2 Volumes; Bleak House, 2 Volumes; Dombey & Son, 2 Volumes; Little Dorrit, 2 Volumes; Nicholas Nickleby, 2 Volumes; David Copperfield, 2 Volumes; Old Curiosity Shop, 2 Volumes; The Pickwick Papers, 2 Volumes; Martin Chuzzlewit, 2 Volumes (These 2 have much lighter boards and title labels, otherwise the same) Oliver Twist; Sketches By Boz; A Child's History of England; Christmas Books (same cover as Martin Chuzzlewit); American Notes/ Pictures of Italy (both in one Volume). Illustrated with engraved Frontispieces a few other full page Plates. Nice old Heraldic Bookplates on Endpapers, with a Boar's Head, "Frederic, William Brook". Most volumes state "Richard Clay & Sons, London and Bungay" or "Bread Street Hill, London, Bungay, Suffolk" or "Bungay, and Breadf Street Hill, London" and a few "R. Clay & Sons & Taylor, Bread Street Hiil E.C." or "Clay and Taylor, Bungay"as the Printer. All have Chapman and Hall on the Title Page. "A Child's History of England" has an advert for The Cabinet Edition on a preliminary page. (Please Note that Great Experctaions, and Edwin Drood are not included in this part set, which was probably collected by the original owner volume by volume). Some edge, wear and rubbing to boards with a few chips. Some occassional spots of foxing. Set weighs 6.5 Kilos so Shipping outside UK will be extra.
