14 volumes of 15. Missing Volume 13. Bound in the original publisher's green cloth. The covers and spines are very clean and tightly bound with very good, unworn and unbumped edges. There are a few very small closed tears to the cloth at the top of a few spines. The gilt lettering on the spines is somewhat faded. The pages are very clean, are still crisp and are tightly bound. There is occasional foxing - mostly near the endpapers. A previous owner has written his name on the top of the title pages.There are no ownership inscriptions or bookplates on the inner covers or endpapers. The books measure 5-1/2 inches by 8 inches and are approximately 500 pages each. This work was first printed in 1870. This is the 1874 second printing. Bookseller Inventory #
