Complete in 4 volumes. Printed by Thomas Davison, London. An early edition of the complete works of Byron [1788-1824], published but four years after his death. Later [?] full-leather bindings in oxford blue kid, with crisp blind-stamped geometric design to the boards and with gilt-stamped lettering and design to the spines. Gently bumped spine heads and tails. Some corners unbumped, other corners moderately bumped and abraded. Some light scuffing and rubbing to the leather, especially along the gutters, but on the whole clean and quite presentable bindings. Hinges rather strong. Text blocks firmly bound in. 5.5 x 3.5 inches. A.E.G. With handsome marbled paper pastedowns and FEPs. With ix, 362, 424, 383 and 429 numbered pages. Frontispiece portrait of Vol. 1 by G Philips, R.A., and with small tidewater mark at bottom of that page. The other three frontispieces by H. Corbould. Lightest foxing at some of the preliminaries. Previous owner name to the half title pages and also to two of the title pages, in a faint ink hand. Else clean. A Good Plus set of four volumes. A charming, pocket-sized edition. Note that the print size is quite small, apparently a 6 or 8 pt. standard font from a serif typeface. Size: 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory #
