Engraved frontispieces, engraved titles page, small number of illustrations. Very good overall. All volumes internally tight and near fine, the only wear being a bit of mild corner- and edgewear. Outstandingly tight and handsome set of this lovely large edition in custom vintage binding, and while some title pages note "In Fourteen Volumes," this is the full set of 17 volumes. From the library of Senator Adlai E. Stevenson III and before him from Governor Adlai E. Stevenson II -- but whether before him from Vice President Adlai E. Stevenson I is not known.
