Sixth edition. Original brown blindstamped decorative cloth, 440 pp. Very good, no dustjacket. Corners bumped with a bit of cardboard exposed there, 1/4 inch nick on top edge of front board, light soil on cloth, approximately 1/4 inch fraying at head and foot of spine. Internally, first free front endpaper torn out (starts with second) , previous owner's name and address dated 1884, some foxing on first and last few leaves, 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep light tan stain on top edge of textblock, a varying 1/4 to 1 inch deep such stain of side edge, upper corner of 1 leaf creased, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked; probably never really read. Texts of letters, speeches, etc on a variety of subjects including slavery, plight of the working class and the poor, war (including War of 1812) , prayer, ordination of ministers, memorials, including one for Dr Fullen who died as a result of the burning of the steamboat Lexington in the Long Island Sound in 1840, etc. Religion; history; abolitionism; social justice; theology; Unitarian. A native of NYC, who dissipated his youth and more mature years in used bookstores and reading, as well as earning degrees in history, biology, banking and counseling plus studying 2 years at the University of Paris, he is constantly acquiring quaint and curious volumes, as well as the more mundane, on every imaginable subject. Low overhead means low prices geared towards the trade and the savvy retail client. To the extent possible, we use recycled packaging material (economy and ecology are both dervied from the same Greek root), and all books are shipped in corrugated cardboard. Every attempt is made to accurately describe the books, including their faults, and everything is completely guaranteed! (Sorry, we are strictly mail order, and due to insurance and other concerns cannot accomodate visitors.) On-line booksellers since 1996; ancient for this business!
