Book Description New York: Oxford University Press, (). Sponsored by Dr. Lester C. Hunt, Secretary of State., 1952. Octavo, blue cloth (hardcover), map illus. endpapers, xxvii + 490 pp. Near-Fine, in a Good dust jacket with edgewear that includes chipping. From dust jacket: Midway between the Mississippi River and the Pacific Ocean is the State of Wyoming, a great rectangular plateau of the Rocky Mountain uplift, broken by foothills and mountain ranges, with intervening valleys and extensive stretches of rolling plains. Land of the cowboy, the rodeo, six gallon hats, country of the great open spaces, the very name Wyoming has a fascination -- and the word Cheyenne practically gives off sparks. The State is ideal for recreation -- one-fourth of it is given over to national parks, forests, and an Indian Reservation, not to mention the vast acres of Yellowstone National Park with its huge wilderness, wild bird and animal preserve, exceptional trout fishing, its geysers and boiling springs. Two hours of dribing out from Wyoming's modern cities and towns and perfect solitude can be reached, in the great top country above timberline. Wyoming, American History, Americana, United States History, U. S. History. Seller Inventory # 2837qs
