Tan paper-covered boards with gilt lettering and an attractive publisher's crest to front, quarterbound in tan cloth to spine, also with gilt lettering; good, with some darkening to spine panel, edge wear, soiling to fore edges and bumped corners. The text block is clean and mark-free, with light toning. The front and back spine hinges have been neatly repaired, with the binding holding firm. Overall, this is an attractive copy of an interesting work, including articles by many contributors in all the arts in pre-war Canada in 1913, on such diverse subjects as Stephen Leacock, Goldwin Smith, Choral Music in Ontario, French Canadian painting and sculpture, and Walter Allward, Sculptor. Middleton, Augustus Bridle, Newton MacTavish, C.W. Jefferys, Lawren Harris , Arthur Lismer, E. Wyly Grier, Eric Browne Provenance: Probably E. (Eugene) T. Lamont. (1916-2011) A farm boy born in Tait's Corner and schooled in Glencoe, southwest of London, Lamont served in the RCAF during the Second World War. After the war he established the Lamont and Perkins drugstore in Wortley Village that he operated for decades until converting it into an antique shop in the early 1980s.
